Demonstrating the Effectiveness of a Tourism DX × International Student Recruitment Model with 70% Overseas Traffic and High User Engagement
The project “360° VR University & Town Campus Tour to Promote International Student Enrollment and Regional Tourism in the Tama Area,” jointly promoted by SeiRogai, Inc. and Keio Travel Agency Co., Ltd., has been featured as a Leading Project on the official website of the Tama Innovation Ecosystem Initiative.

Project Overview
This initiative addresses social challenges such as declining birth rates affecting university enrollment and the slowdown of regional economies. By leveraging 360° VR technology and multilingual digital outreach, the project seeks to create a new framework that combines international student recruitment with tourism promotion.
Targeting prospective students and their families primarily across Southeast Asia, the project showcases both the appeal of participating universities and the tourism potential of the Tama region through a unified digital experience.
The VR tours are hosted on SeiRogai’s tourism DX platform, Global Virtual Travel (GVT), and include direct links to university websites and local tourism information.
The platform is designed to encourage immediate user action at the moment interest is generated — whether to study, visit, or explore — with the goal of simultaneously driving university applications, tourism visits, and local economic activity.
Results Achieved Within Approximately One Month After Launch
Shortly after launch, the project achieved the following results:
- Approximately 10,000 page views, exceeding the KPI target by roughly five times
- Around 70% of total traffic generated by overseas users
- User engagement rates of up to 64%, including clicks and related link transitions within the VR tours
- Approximately 70% improvement in intention to visit (based on user surveys)
- Approximately 55% improvement in understanding of the universities featured (based on user surveys)
These results demonstrate that the project’s user journey — from generating interest through immersive VR experiences to encouraging concrete action — is functioning effectively.
The high percentage of overseas users also indicates the project’s ability to reach audiences that are difficult to engage through conventional promotional methods, highlighting its strong potential as an inbound tourism initiative.
In addition, media relations activities utilizing press kit materials led to coverage across approximately 570 media outlets, including major international media organizations and overseas journalists.
Future Development
In the second year of the project, SeiRogai plans to build upon the successful proof-of-concept results by strengthening marketing initiatives, expanding the model horizontally across additional regions and institutions, and exploring sustainable monetization strategies.
The Tama region offers several strategic advantages, including a high concentration of universities, extensive railway and public transportation networks, and a balanced mix of tourism and accommodation resources. These characteristics position the area as an attractive suburban learning and tourism destination capable of avoiding overtourism while maintaining strong appeal among international students and their families.
