The ‘Nanto City VR360 Virtual Tour in Gokayama’ is a virtual tour that allows you to experience a journey to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Gokayama. This virtual tour, which mainly features the gassho-zukuri (thatched-roof) farmhouses in the Ainokura and Suganuma villages, was planned with the aim of attracting inbound tourists and was filmed with the cooperation of Nanto City in Toyama Prefecture.

Under the leadership of SeiRogai’s founders, Samuel Yuen and Rachel Leng, our production team embarked on an expedition into the heart of Ainokura and Suganuma villages. Leveraging state-of-the-art technology including drones and 360° cameras, we meticulously captured every detail over two weeks, ensuring an authentic and immersive experience for viewers.
The resulting 7-minute VR360 video, presented in a documentary-style format, unveils the soul of Gokayama. From the melodious strains of traditional folk songs to the intricate architecture of Gassho-style houses, viewers are transported to a realm where time stands still. Join us on guided tours by local residents, witness captivating Kokiriko performances, and immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of history and culture that defines this iconic region.
The unveiling ceremony and press conference held at Nanto City Hall on March 6, 2024, marked a significant milestone in virtual tourism. Mayor Tanaka’s awe at the high-quality visuals underscored our commitment to excellence.
This release, the third in our acclaimed VR360 virtual tour series, follows in the footsteps of our immersive ventures at the Okunitama Jinja in Fuchu City and Zojoji Temple in Minato City. With each production, we invite viewers to embark on an enriching journey through time and space.
For this project, it was the first time we conducted filming outside of Tokyo. We received full cooperation from Nanto City, and we also received warm support from the local residents living in Gokayama.
