SeiRogai × JETRO: “E-commerce Academy – Strategy Planning Program” Implementation Report

SeiRogai, Inc., in collaboration with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), successfully conducted the practical training program “E-commerce Academy – Strategy Planning Program”, designed to strengthen the global expansion capabilities of Japanese companies.

Held across two sessions on January 15 and January 27, 2026, this program served as the practical phase following the December 2025 seminar on country-specific e-commerce platforms and strategic design. It was specifically designed to help participating companies translate cross-border e-commerce strategies for the ASEAN market into actionable business plans.

Program Overview

This program was structured not merely for knowledge acquisition, but to enable participants to develop concrete, company-specific strategies.

The curriculum consisted of two key themes:

  • Session 1: Brand Building and Market-Specific Consumer Psychology
  • Session 2: Cultural Adaptation and Negotiation Strategies for Success in ASEAN E-commerce

In addition to lectures, participants engaged in case study-based group work, deepening their practical understanding through hands-on application.

During these sessions, participants developed strategies using key frameworks such as:

  • Consumer insight analysis
  • USP (Unique Selling Proposition) definition
  • Positioning strategy design
  • Negotiation and presentation style optimization

Following the sessions, participants applied these frameworks to their own products and services through structured assignments. This process enabled them to clearly define their strengths, identify market positioning, and build concrete strategies for overseas expansion.

SeiRogai also provided individual feedback and consultation, supporting each company in refining the accuracy and effectiveness of their strategies.

Key Outcomes

The program delivered tangible results, with participating companies demonstrating clear progress:

Strategic Improvements

  • Deeper understanding of the ASEAN market
  • Clearer identification of strengths, challenges, and positioning
  • Development of concrete action plans for global expansion

Operational Advancements

  • Initiation and redesign of market research
  • Review and restructuring of e-commerce strategies
  • Consideration of product development and improvement for overseas markets
  • Acceleration of internal decision-making processes

For many companies, previously ambiguous overseas strategies became clearly defined and actionable, marking a significant achievement of the program.

Participants also demonstrated a high level of engagement and initiative throughout, highlighting the program’s strong practical value.

Key Insights

The program also revealed several common challenges in international expansion:

1. The “Domestic Model” cannot be directly applied overseas
Strategies must be redesigned for each target market.

2. Cultural adaptation is critical
Differences in consumer behavior, business practices, and communication styles significantly impact success.

3. Need for integrated strategic design
Rather than isolated initiatives, companies require cohesive, end-to-end strategies.

Future Outlook

SeiRogai will continue to collaborate with JETRO to further strengthen support for Japanese companies expanding overseas.

Moving forward, we will enhance our support through:

  • Strengthening pre-program assignments and phased learning design
  • Deepening market-specific expertise across ASEAN countries
  • Expanding tailored strategy development support for individual companies
