SeiRogai’s Production Team and COO Rachel Leng Introduce the Japanese Government’s “Vision for a Digital Garden City Nation” on Channel JAPAN, a Program for Overseas Viewers

SeiRogai, Inc. in collaboration with Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Japan’s largest financial newspaper, and the Cabinet Office, introduced the “Vision for a Digital Garden City Nation” to overseas audiences. Our COO, Rachel Leng appeared as a host and was involved in supporting the production of this program. In the program, we communicated Japan’s greatest nation-wide challenges and strategic solutions to these issues through digital technology. Channel JAPAN, a TV program broadcasted in Asia that reports updates on Japan’s economy, business, technology, and culture, took a close look at the most pressing social issues in Japan and is working to solve them through regional development activities. The video can be viewed here.

Japan is currently facing a declining population and also a decline of its regional economies, due to the over-concentration of people in Tokyo. The Digital Garden City Nation Initiative is a regional development strategy to revitalize local regions, and grants have been awarded to promote it. By promoting local digital transformation (DX) and the smart city concept, the program aims to provide people with convenient and comfortable lifestyles and revitalize local economies.

In the program, examples of efforts to turn local areas into smart cities using digital platforms and services and the benefits of deregulation for entering overseas markets, especially in Asia, were explained; this was done by showing how DX technology is an important key to improving local well-being and regaining momentum in tourist destinations.

To promote the vision of a Digital Garden City Nation, the Japanese government has supported local governments with grants and subsidies, and there have been over 800 recipients so far of such financial assistance. The Digital Garden City Nation Initiative is focused on creating smart cities, in which new technologies are being implemented in various communities to promote economic growth and the health and well-being of Japanese residents.
