About the Tama City VR360 Virtual Tour
The “Tama City VR360 Virtual Tour” was developed as part of Tokyo’s PoC Ground Tokyo project, with the cooperation of the Tama City Office providing a test field for the project. In July, the tour was unveiled at a press conference attended by the Mayor of Tama City, garnering significant attention.
Mayor Abe shared his valuable insights and feedback on the VR tour experience:
“This tour is different from traditional tourism promotions. It offers an interactive experience that not only showcases Tama City but also enriches visitors’ understanding of Japanese culture and history. It’s a truly unique sightseeing guide that you won’t find anywhere else. For international visitors to Japan, this guide provides more than just a tour of popular spots like Sanrio Puroland (the Hello Kitty theme park). [You can] explore Tama Center, … visit museums, art galleries, and parks [in] Tama New Town, and immerse yourself in the vibrant culture and daily life that the video highlights.”
Through the demonstration experiment, the critical importance of implementing e-commerce integration was confirmed. We are currently optimizing the features for the official release, planned for the end of December.

Experience the history and development of Tama New Town, built approximately 50 years ago on former hillsides. The tour takes you through various eras, from ancient times to the modern-day living environment. Visitors can explore cultural sites, such as Jomon period pit dwellings and Meiji-era residences, and experience 1970s apartment model rooms in local museums. At a design studio in the shopping district, engage with creative activities and meet architects and designers.
